Situation: We LOVE it when guests book months and months before their cruise. But, that’s a long time to wait … and wait … and wait. So to keep the excitement and momentum from the date of booking to the date of departure we initiated a triggered series of email messages to engage guest with packing tips or points of interest to keep up their excitement for their cruise. The emails were automated, so we could set it and forget it.
Results: The booked guests loved this! They wrote back with compliments and comments and wanted to keep talking to us. So … we added in some offers for other things they could do during their cruise (and purchase before they left).
What happened: The guests bought it – literally and figuratively. The sale of pre-cruise purchases skyrocketed and, better yet, the cancellation rate of those who received these emails dropped dramatically. Simple. And successful.
